This school received a grant in
2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support
our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of
the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the
Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.
The funding received was
instrumental in enhancing our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts,
and Mathematics) provision. It enabled us to purchase Izak9 and LEGO SPIKE
kits, which have been successfully integrated into classroom activities to
support interactive digital and inquiry-based learning.
Additionally, we acquired a laptop
caddy containing 30 laptops. Each device was installed with Microsoft Office
and connected to our recently upgraded Wi-Fi network. This has significantly
improved digital access for students and supported the delivery of
technology-enhanced learning across the curriculum.
Overall, the grant has had a
meaningful impact on teaching and learning, encouraging greater engagement in
STEAM activities and improving access to digital resources.
